Gather your ingredients.

Start by making the simple syrup: Put 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small sauce pan over medium high heat and bring it to a simmer. Stir the mixture periodically until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar is dissolved remove the pan from the heat. You can choose to heat it in the microwave instead if you prefer, just be sure the sugar is thoroughly dissolved before use.

Meanwhile, start juicing and straining the lemons. You can press on the pulp in your strainer with a spoon to get more juice out of it. You want 1 1/4 cup after straining.

Mix together in a pitcher the lemon juice, simple syrup, and 3 cups cold water. Taste. If you want more sweetness you can make more syrup by combining equal amounts of sugar and water and heating until the sugar dissolves.


Once you have reached the desired sweetness, top off the pitcher with ice and serve.
